Half Way to Friday.

Paying full price tastes good too, but let’s be honest, paying half the price tastes phenomenal. Tastes like you deserve to have more. Tastes like your pay checks are made from legit gold.

The best part is, you don’t have to wander very far for the deal. Half price comes at no charge to you with minimal research online!

This weeks half price hump day comes to you from Tommy’s Tap + Tavern in Seabright, NJ. Their weekly specials are nothing to joke about. Seriously. The locals wait all summer for specials like these at our restaurants and bars. Now that fall is back so are the steals…I mean deals!

A quick synopsis as to why we can’t have these deals during the summer and it’s one word. BENNY’S. No, but really. The population doubles in our small beach towns due to tourists (which isn’t a bad thing – we love the business!) But for restaurants and bars to open their doors to specials like half priced sushi, specialty cocktails, apps, you name it – would break the bank. Literally…probably would break it. These small business’s rely on the summer months when lines form out the door and waits are upwards to an hour. Being a local, I can’t stand it. But hey, good for Tommy. People still wait 2 hours for a table in the dead heat of the summer at this place. We commend you!

So when when the season changes and the tourists go home – so does the menu. The Fall, Winter, Spring menu is tailored to get the locals back in the door. Now that I think about it, it’s like our ‘thank you’ for putting up with 2 hour waits and ridiculous traffic.

October hit and so did Half Priced Specialty Pizza on Wednesday nights at Tommy’s. It came in hot. Like hot out the oven, hotter than hot (seriously, it’s Coal Fired). Their pizza’s are no joke. Let me list a few and see if any stir up an appetite.

San Danielle imported prosciutto, arugula, fresh mozzarella, san marzano tomatoes, basil & extra virgin olive oil
Giuseppe sweet italian sausage, broccoli rabe, hot cherry peppers, mozzarella, san marzano tomatoes, basil & extra virgin olive oil
DellaValle sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, mozzarella, san marzano tomatoes, basil & extra virgin olive oil
Jersey Shore Clam Pie fresh baby clams, hot italian sausage, scallions, mozzarella, creme de fresh
Bianca’s Blanca baby arugula, shaved parmigiano reggiano, fresh mozzarella, fresh squeezed lemon juice & extra virgin olive oil
The Cowboy bbq pulled pork, smoked gouda, coal roasted onions & mozzarella

And the list goes on…I mean, seriously?! These pizza’s are a midweek godsend. And for those of you who aren’t looking to get fancy, there still is your classic Margherita Pizza which starts at $16. The pies range anywhere from $16 to $20 for their extravagant fixings. But that’s why we went on Half Priced Pizza night!

I have yet to mention one other extremely important side note…and I mean extremely important. So important that, now that I think about it, it probably should’ve been the title of this post. It just so happened to be Half Priced Sangria night too!

We started off with a pitcher of sangria while we mulled over the many pizza options. I’ve been to Tommy’s before so the decision was easy for me. The San Danielle, in my opinion, is the way to go. If you love prosciutto, cheese, and a peppery arugula – this pie has your name written all over it.

What better way to congratulate yourself for making it half way to Friday than sipping on sangria and eating prosciutto on your pizza? I can’t think of one. Check out their menu and all their midweek specials – http://www.tommystavernandtap.com/
